We need to eat healthy and exercise every day to keep our bodies and teeth healthy. In today's article, we are going to be discussing how exercise and gum disease are connected.
While some of us understand the connection between exercising and getting healthy, but there is only a few that understand the link between our teeth and gums.
How Exercise is Connected to our Teeth and Gums
Recent studies showed that 16 percent of us who exercised was likely to have gum disease, and those who combined exercise, eating healthy foods, and maintaining a healthy weight, the risk of getting gum disease was lowered by 40 percent.
It makes sense. If you're going to eat right, exercise daily, and maintain your weight that the risk will get lowered.
Eating healthy has a lot of benefits for your teeth and gums. Healthier food provides all the good nutrients that are essential for your dental health. Also, maintaining a healthy weight will help lower the risk of getting diabetes, which is a major cause of gum disease.
Just exercising alone will promote good dental health. Regular exercising will help lower the risk of diabetes and decrease your blood sugar level. Diabetes makes your blood vessels thicker, which in turn will make your gums harder to get the oxygen and nutrients that they need to stay healthy.
It also interferes with your body's ability to get rid of all the toxins and waste from your gum tissue, and having a high amount of blood sugar can increase your sugar contest in saliva which will increase the bad bacteria levels that's in your mouth.
