The Dangerous Problem with Gum Disease Starting Off PainlesslyThe most common sign that people respond to when something is wrong with their body is pain. Most are aware that pain is your body telling you something is wrong. But there are many times when something is wrong, but a person does not feel pain.

When it comes to oral health, there are problems that do not always cause a person pain. Gum disease may start out painlessly, but it does not mean it is something to ignore.

How Can Gum Disease Be Painless?

Your teeth and gums are very sensitive. The react with pain for many reasons. If you feel pain your teeth and gums, you probably will not hesitate to call our dental professionals. When it comes to gum disease, the pain may not happen until the disease progresses.

The best treatment options for gum disease are when it is recognized early. Pain is only one of the symptoms. Other symptoms include inflammation around the gums, bad breath, bleeding gums when brushing or flossing and loose teeth. All of these can happen without causing any pain. Some people may experience fleeting pain from gum disease, but it goes away. That does not mean there is not more of a problem.

Gum Disease Progresses

If you do ignore the warning signs of early gum disease, it is not likely to get better. It is possible that improving your oral hygiene practices can reverse early gum disease, but without pain, you may not think that is necessary. In most cases, the gum disease will progress until pain becomes the symptom you can no longer live with.
